Peter Rabbit™ Ate Some Radishes Member-only Figurine

2012 marks 110 years since The Tale of Peter Rabbit™ was first published by Warne in 1902 and to commemorate this very special occasion we have returned yet again to this most popular Tale for the inspiration for both of the Friends of Peter Rabbit Club’s Member-exclusive figurines for this year. Our eighth Annual Club Figurine depicts what has to be the most iconic illustration of Peter Rabbit and has captured Beatrix’s original illustration wonderfully. It depicts the naughty rabbit eating radishes in Mr. McGregor’s garden as the words accompanying the illustration reveal:‘First he ate some lettuces and some French beans; and then he ate some radishes.’

Those familiar with the Tale – and let’s face it there can’t be many that aren’t! – will know exactly how Peter got into the farmer’s garden: he ‘squeezed under the gate!’, and collectors will be delighted that our figurine includes the inquisitive robin perched on Mr. McGregor’s abandoned fork that appears in the original illustration too.

We all know what happens next: ‘feeling rather sick, he went to look for some parsley…But round the end of a cucumber frame, whom should he meet but Mr. McGregor!’ A wild chase ensues, leaving a terrified Peter without his blue jacket and shoes, which Mr. McGregor uses as ‘a scarecrow to frighten the blackbirds.’

Members of the Friends of Peter Rabbit Club receive a redemption form so the exclusive Peter Rabbit™ Ate Some Radishes, figurine can be purchased from their local Beatrix Potter stockist.

(Please note that if you are already a member, we will send you a renewal reminder, approximately six weeks before your membership expires.)
